Solana DePIN Ecosystem Crosses 5 Million Active Devices Worldwide
Decentralized physical infrastructure networks on Solana have reached a major milestone, with over 5 million active devices contributing to networks like Helium, Hivemapper, and Render.
The Solana DePIN ecosystem has crossed 5 million active devices worldwide, cementing its position as the leading blockchain for decentralized physical infrastructure. Helium's IoT and mobile networks account for the largest share, with over 2 million hotspots, while Hivemapper's dashcam network has mapped 30% of the world's roads.
Render Network, which migrated to Solana in 2023, now processes over 10 million GPU rendering jobs per month, serving clients ranging from indie filmmakers to major studios. The network's token has become one of the top performers in the DePIN category.
New entrants like Daylight (home energy), DIMO (vehicle data), and Grass (web data) have collectively onboarded another million devices in Q1 2026 alone. Analysts at Messari estimate the total value secured by Solana DePIN protocols now exceeds $15 billion.
The growth has attracted attention from traditional infrastructure companies, with several Fortune 500 firms reportedly exploring partnerships to leverage decentralized networks for data collection and edge computing.
